Badger DeMolay Vol. 50 Issue 1

Welcome back!  The Badger DeMolay is officially back in business starting here at our 50th volume.  For those of you who aren’t aware, the Badger DeMolay started with Wisconsin DeMolay all the way back in 1924 and was in production throughout the years until it’s 49th volume in 1973.  Please stick with us as we grow and evolve this newsletter over the upcoming months!

Please note that this volume will span from today, September 15, to the end of October to get back on track with the 1st of the month release date.

In this issue:

-From the Executive Officer

-From the DeMolay Office

-Advisor/ISC Renewal Process

-Honor’s Day Registration

-Sweetheart Weekend 2020

From the Executive Officer

“The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders and continually develops them.”

-John Maxwell

With school back in session I’m sure all of our members are ecstatic to be back in their beloved learning institutions, or maybe it’s the Mom’s and Dad’s that are ecstatic, I’m not sure.

Most of our upcoming events are being covered by others within this newsletter, so I won’t steal any of their thunder.  In the short term, I will just say that I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Honor’s Day on October 5th. This week, I received the swords for our Chevalier that will be presented to our recipients.  They are something to see!

There is one administrative item for the chapters.  DeMolay International has worked diligently this past year and the result is a reduction in the insurance premium we are required to pay per member.  Due to this reduction, the UMB will be covering the insurance premium in its entirety and no invoices will be sent to the chapters.

We do want to announce the dates of the Advisor Workshop Weekend (unless someone has a better suggestion for a name…)  January 3rd and 4th, 2020.  The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Milwaukee Airport.  The preliminary schedule will include social time Friday night followed by speakers and workshops on Saturday.  We are planning to have a few out of state speakers join us. The workshops will provide opportunities to actively work on issues raised in previous listening sessions.  If anyone has specific topics they would like to see addressed, please send that information to me at your earliest convenience.

Until next month, thank you for all you do for Wisconsin DeMolay!

From The DeMolay Office

Talking about the DeMolay Office, work is going well, I’m starting to decorate our walls in the next two weeks.  We have ordered a giant 60×48 graphic of the DeMolay Emblem from Fathead and it looks amazing.  I can’t wait to put that up as well as a bunch of our historical pieces to give the office a real DeMolay taste.

I’m happy to announce that looking forward towards Sweetheart Weekend that registration for events will only get easier on your side of things.  The idea is to have one singular registration form for all events, with different registration packets to choose from.  For those who have ever registered for DeMolay International session through their website, it’s similar to that, however will not feature the full à la carte options that they have available. You will, like normal, be able to add multiple users to the form as well.

Talking about the website, remember that we are always accepting feedback for changes on the website and I’ll try my best to meet your expectations.  One piece of feedback we recieved recently was from Bro. Roland from GDB who suggested we reach out to the chapters to get replacement photos for the chapter’s page.  If you have any photos that you would like to be on your chapters “block” on that page.

Again, please make sure to send me any feedback regarding the website or registration forms and I will make sure to take them into consideration.  Please note that the following things have been discussed and are final:

  • Documents pertaining to DeMolay and your chapters will stay on the Google Drive and will not be premiered on the website.
  • The calendar on the website will not be replaced by Google Calendar due to inconsistency it will present.  The website calendar is expected to be utilized in order for events to be promoted by the state.

Advisor and ISC Members Renewal Process

Advisor Renewal and the ISC renewal process opened for DeMolay International on Sept. 2.  For all current advisors who wish to continue their service into the 2020 year, please go compete your Change/No Change form over on Escribe.  When you log in you will see a text at the top of the main page with a link taking you towards your form.

This process ends on Nov. 31 this year as it is a hard date found within the DeMolay International Bylaws.

Email or call Bobi Maddux at DeMolay International if you have any issues with your Escribe account or finding your form.

Sweetheart Weekend 2020

If you haven’t already heard we are excited to be bringing back Sweetheart Weekend! Mark your calendars for February 21-23, 2020. Yup, that’s right, it’s back. The state officers are already hard at work to make this relaunch fun for all.

For years our Masonic youth groups gathered to celebrate DeMolay, our Sweetheart program and all the organization means to us. What can you expect when you attend SHW 2020? Fun, Friends, Food and a weekend full of memories. This year we will feature: Fun events for all, of course some work with degrees featuring Honorary Degrees for our Master Masons (watch for details), our banquet in honor of our Sweethearts, the State Sweetheart and all the program does to support DeMolay.

Plus, this year we will be adding a reunion. Yes, that’s right, we will be adding a reunion for our Masonic Youth Organizations. Do you know someone who is a Past State Mater Councilor, Past State Sweetheart or from our sister organizations: Past Grand Bethel Honored Queens, Miss Wisconsin Job’s Daughters, Miss Congeniality’s, Grand Worthy Advisors, we want to see them. Please spread the word!

Watch for more details in the coming news letters and of course on the website.
